\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) is an international judicial authority established by the Treaty of Rome in 1950 and operates under the auspices of the Council of Europe. The European Court of Human Rights is based in Strasbourg, France.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Its main purpose is to ensure the observance of the rights and freedoms provided for in the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. Greece has already ratified the European Convention on Human Rights with the N.D. 53\/1974. Individuals or groups of individuals who believe that their rights under the Convention have been violated may appeal to the ECtHR. The court decides whether there has been a violation of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) on the part of the contracting States, including Greece, and issues decisions that bind the member states that signed the Convention.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 According to article 6 par. 1 of the ECHR, among the rights protected by the above convention is the right of every citizen to a fair trial, i.e. the preservation of the principle of the legal judge, the impartiality and effectiveness of legal aid, judicial independence , the impartiality, the reasonable time for adjudication of the dispute by the national courts, the right to appear, to be heard, as well as the right to property of Article 1 of the First Additional Protocol. Among the rights protected by the above convention, as well as the recent jurisprudence of the ECHR, are also those concerning fair trial and the proper administration of Justice, Security and personal freedom, the protection of property and property, the protection freedom of expression, conscience and thought, the prohibition of torture and forced labour, respect for family and private life.<\/p>\n
